Our commitment

EverywhereX is operated by 1 in 10 Dyslexia — a UK SEND charity. We take child safeguarding seriously and align our policies with the statutory guidance in Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) 2025 and the Working Together to Safeguard Children framework where applicable to our service.

Our platform is designed for UK children aged 8-11 (Key Stage 2) with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Because children are our primary users, safeguarding is central to how the product is built, not an afterthought.

How safeguarding is built into the product

  • AI tutor safeguarding response. Both the text and voice AI tutors are instructed to pause the lesson and refer a child to a trusted adult if the child mentions self-harm, abuse, distress, or wanting to hurt themselves or someone else. The tutor will not continue the lesson until the topic is handled appropriately.
  • No personal-information collection by the tutor. The tutor is instructed never to ask for or repeat a child’s surname, address, school name, or parent’s contact details.
  • Parent oversight. Every child profile is created and supervised by a verified parent account. Parents can see all chat history, set session limits, and delete any data on demand.
  • Audit log.Every admin action that touches a child’s profile is recorded in an audit log. Where appropriate these records are retained indefinitely for safeguarding review.
  • Content moderation. Both inbound and outbound messages pass through content moderation. Flagged content is logged for review and may trigger a pause in the session.
  • Age-appropriate design.Gamification avoids punitive streaks, leaderboards, or nudges that exploit children’s developmental vulnerabilities. See ourAccessibility statementfor more.

Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)

All safeguarding concerns are routed to our Designated Safeguarding Lead. Contact:

safeguarding@evx.logicmesh.dev

We aim to respond within one working day. Anything urgent (safety risk) should also be reported to your local authority or 999.

For schools and DSLs considering EverywhereX

We welcome review by a school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead before recommending EverywhereX to a family. Our full safeguarding policy is available on request by emailing the DSL address above, and covers:

  • Our staff vetting and training process
  • Incident escalation flow
  • How we handle a disclosure by a child
  • Data sharing protocol with statutory authorities
  • Our approach to online safety (Education for a Connected World)

The policy is reviewed at least annually and after any material change to the platform.

Complaints and concerns about our handling

  • Your local authority’s children’s services team
  • The NSPCC (0808 800 5000 / help@nspcc.org.uk)
  • The UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if the concern relates to children’s data
